GRAYWOLF YELLOW GLASS FIBERGLASS FLY RODS
My yellow glass rods are built on blanks made by Mike McFarland. The action on the rods are best described as progressive. The rods are light in the hand, well balanced, and top of the line. Blanks are un-sanded yellow fiberglass with matching spigot ferrules. Mike has done a tremendous job with taper design on these blanks, and I am very happy to build
on them.
I am offering 3, 4 and 6 piece rods built on these special blanks. The 4pc and 6pc models are exclusive and custom tapers. I am offering this series of rods in two different build grades, and an Ala cart option. I understand that some like my the way I like my personal rods built (signature grade), and others prefer small upgrades such as agate stripping guides and tipping wraps on all guides (perfection grade), and some prefer no tipping but want an agate guide or tipping on all guides with a nice mildrum stripper (mid stream). What ever you prefer I should have an option for it, if not contact me.
All rods will be built with the same attention and many of the same finishing techniques used on my bamboo fly rods. All my fiberglass rods will be wrapped in high quality silk, and finished in traditional marine grade spar varnish. The grips will be hand turned in house from the highest flor grade cork I can obtain. The components will be top shelf and the same as I use on my bamboo rods. Not to mention the reel seats are my own designs that are timeless but modern, exclusively made for me by Joel Lemke.
Signature Grade builds. This is the way I prefer to build my personal rods. Any of my exclusive reel seat designs with premium wood inserts and choice of polished or blued nickle hardware, flor grade hand milled cork grip. Wrapped in high quality silk, finished with marine grade spar. Either bright chrome or titanium carbide snakes/tip top, stripping guide will be a choice of Mildrum, Hopkins and Holloway, or all metal (view here). Rods will be tipped at cork check, ferrules and tip top, no tipping on snakes or stripper. Alignment dots, a custom sewn rod sack and Leonard style rod tube, with Graywolf label, and warranty are all standard.
Perfection Grade builds. Rods built to preform and look presentation grade. Any of my exclusive reel seat designs with premium wood inserts and choice of polished or blued nickle hardware, flor grade hand milled cork grip. Wrapped in high quality silk, finished with marine grade spar. Here where the two grades are different; nickel silver agate stripper guide (view here), and tipping throughout. Alignment dots, a custom sewn rod sack and Leonard style rod tube, with Graywolf label, and warranty are all standard.
Midstream options. If you would prefer an agate stripper guide on a Signature grade rod, or are happy with the stripping guide options on the Signature grade builds but would like tipping throughout the entire rod. Your choice just add $35 to the Signature grade price. (this is a good option for customers looking for clear wrapped rods, whom prefer an agate stripper).
